State Bank’s Calmar office held a “Cookin’ for a Cause” event on Thursday, June 30th to support the South Winn Recreation Program.  Bank staff served burgers and hot dogs to approximately 300 people raising $1,596.21, plus the Bank’s match for a total contribution of $2,096.21 toward the South Winn Recreation Program. In addition to the standard $500 match of donated funds, State Bank will be contributing an additional $3,000 toward the Rec Program to help kick off a capital campaign bringing total donated funds to $5,096.21.

“We are thrilled that the South Winneshiek Recreation Program is on its way to fruition. This endeavor would not be possible without support from our local community members and businesses,” said Chris Wiltgen, organizing chair person. “Thanks, State Bank for kick-starting our capital campaign and becoming a founding member of the South Winneshiek Recreation Program,” Wiltgen added.

To date, the total amount contributed as a result from State Bank’s “Cookin’ for a Cause” (CFAC) event series is over $28,000 to fifteen local charities across each of the markets served by the bank.  Along with the South Winn Recreation Program, State Bank’s CFAC events have helped to raise funds for the Ossian Crown Club’s Community Pavilion Project and the South Winn Athletic Complex.

"At State Bank, we're built on a foundation of giving back to the communities that have helped us achieve success", said John Heying, Vice President. "This event was a community effort, and we truly appreciate the generosity of all who came out to support it.  We also wish to thank the city of Calmar and its staff members who were very accomodating with the site preparation for the event."  Heying added, "State Bank recognizes the substantial value of a Recreation Program to serve the communities of southern Winneshiek County, and we hope this is the start of a very successful capital campaign to assure long-term viability."

Along with State Bank’s recent “Cookin’ for a Cause” event in Calmar, they also will hold events in Dike, Janesville, New Hampton and Waverly throughout the summer.
